“The Second List” by Max Bridges has to be one of the best reads I’ve had all year. There is so much to like about this story I wouldn’t know where to begin. But to say the author is a great writer would be an understatement. He’s awesome! And to realize this novel is his first is simple remarkable. Mr. Bridges has done an outstanding job in keeping the story on pace by effectively using time stamps in organizing the action and the events as they occur in the past and the present. There’s a lot going on in this story and the author does a great job in keeping you on track with all its intricacies. Great storyline, great characters, all well-developed. There are so many twists and turns all so elaborately woven together it’s a great testament to Mr. Bridges’ writing skills. The story tension is taunt as it develops and escalates from the very beginning to the end, keeping you on the edge of your seat throughout. The ending is surprising and very satisfying. All in all, if you like historical, international thrillers, you will definitely love this one. I highly recommend it.
